Jaitya Shramik Shakti (JSS) of AJP holds first executive meeting

GUWAHATI: Jaitya Shramik Shakti (JSS), a sister concern of the AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad), held its first executive meeting in Guwahati on Friday evening where AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi inaugurated a programme – views and news.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, "The labour force is a force not to reckon with in the world. In the days ahead our party will play a strong role in solving various problems of the labour force. The youths who returned to the State after the lockdown have not been rehabilitated by the State government. The BJP did promise to hike the daily wage of tea workers up to Rs 351. However, in the run-up to the Assembly election, the government led by it hiked their wage by just Rs 30 in five years. The government has hiked the wage by Rs 50 recently. However, workers are yet to get the amount."

The meeting was presided over by JSS president Israel Nanda. Former Advocate General Kamal Narayan Choudhury appealed to all to work in the interest of labourers.

Jatiya Chah Shramik Shakti's president Rafel Kujur said, "Tea labourers have been facing various problems in the State. Even after staying over 200 years in Assam, around ten lakh tea tribes staying in the State are yet to get any land."
