Jalukbari Police Seizes 45.43 Gm of Drugs; Two Apprehended

GUWAHATI: Despite the campaign of war against drugs, and the numerous efforts by the Assam government and the state police to reduce the drug menace in the state, there are peddlers who still find ways to enlarge their operations. These peddlers have now started to use educational institutions as their place of business.

Two drug peddlers, Arjun Basfor (27) and Malekuddin Ali (22), were apprehended by the Jalukbari police from the Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital in the Jalukbari area on Sunday afternoon. As per sources, they came to the college premises with the intention to sell drugs. Acting on inputs,the Jalukbari police launched an operation and apprehended the two peddlers from the educational premises.

The Jalukbari police recovered 45.43 gm of drugs from the peddlers and seized cash amounting to Rs 23,000, two mobile handsets, and one Royal Enfield (AS 01 EH 4787).
