Jatiya Mahila Shakti lodges FIR against morphed photo

GUWAHATI: AJP's (Assam Jatiya Parishad) Jatiya Mahila Shakti general secretary Aporajita Borah Das has lodged an FIR at the All-Women Police Station at Panbazar in Guwahati on Saturday against an unknown accused who runs a twitter handle – Voice of Assam @VoiceOfAxom (https://twitter.com/VoiceOfAxom).

According to the FIR, on January 24, 2021 the twitter handle mentioned above "tweeted a meme with morphed photos of AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi in the attire of a woman shown to have been chased by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This meme was again circulated on February 6, 2021… The meme portraying the Indian women in today's developed world is not only vulnerable to the actions of the masculine gender but it also portrays the women to be weak. At this time, when the whole nation is moving towards the constitutional goal of gender equality, this twitter page is trying to demean the women of Indian society by showing them as weak and feeble whose image and reputation could be tarnished."

The Jatiya Mahila Shakti demanded appropriate actions against the wrongdoers.
