GUWAHATI: The job fair organized by the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department across the State on Thursday drew thousands of job seekers.

Job fairs were held at Guwahati, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sonari, Nalbari, Nagaon, Barpeta, Jorhat, Bongaigaon, Morigaon, South Salmara (Mankachar), Dhubri, Goalpara, North lakhimpur, Mangaldai, Tezpur, Biswanath Chariali, Hojai and Golaghat.

Long queues of job aspirants were seen in the job fairs in their respective centres. All Graduates, B Pharma, M Pharma, B Techs, Diploma (Civil) holders, Class 10, 12 and ITI pass candidates were eligible for the walk-in-interview. Unemployed youths were hired based on their educational background. The employers were able to recruit candidates based on their needs at the job fair.

In Guwahati, the job fair was held at the District Employment Office, Rehabari which saw the presence of several recruiters. Among the participating employers were Ajanta Pharma Limited, Amrit Cement, Britannia Industries, Radisson Blu Hotels, ITC Limited, Kishlay Food Products, Renault TI Assam, Topcem Cement, Bimal Auto and several others.

In some of the districts, some chaotic situations were witnessed due to the huge number of job aspirants. A few candidates also expressed disappointment that the job fair was not for government jobs.
