GUWAHATI: The Cultural Journalist Association of Assam organized Pabitra Kumar Deka Memorial Lecture for the first time in the memory of noted photo journalist Pabitra Kumar Deka at Guwahati Press Club on Saturday followed by an Artist-Journalist Gathering in the evening at Dighaliphukuri Park. Eminent folk music researcher Dr. Anil Saikia graced the occasion as chief speaker.

Saikia enlightened the audience with his resourceful lecture on Raga and Tala (time beat) titled as Srimanta Sankaradeva Sristr Khol Badyar Chanda (The rhythm of Khol (instrumental drum) introduced by Srimanta Sankaradeva). Saikia amidst his lecture also played Khol while describing about it that included Rupaka Tala, Kharman Tala, Pari Tala etc. Late Pabitra Kumar Deka’s wife Minu Deka, eminent film maker and critic Utpal Dutta, Seneior journalist Bitupan Bora and many others were also present in the programme presided over by Arun Lochan Das.
