GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metropolitan is conducting door-to-door Covid-19 testing camps under the jurisdiction of Guwahati Municipal Corporation from May 17 onwards.

As informed by the National Health Mission (NHM), Kamrup (M) district informed that as on May 20, 13941 citizens have been tested for COVID-19 and in which 1197 people with COVID-19 was reported and the drive will be continued.

In this regard the Kamrup (M) administration along with the District Health Society held a meeting and appealed to promote the door-to-door Covid-19 testing drive among the general masses.

As state health department has decided not to give COVID home isolation facility to the people above 50 years of age, hence the officials are asked to make awareness among the people so that they come forward and admit such patients in hospitals.

The Covid-19 testing camps will be held at Housing Societies/ Offices (Govt, Semi govt, private) / Media houses/ Firms/ NGOs/ Residential complex/ Shopping malls etc. under the jurisdiction of Guwahati Municipal Corporation in coordination with District Administration, Kamrup Metropolitan.

Earlier on 12 May, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with the state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta and other health officials and decided to conduct from 17th May onwards with house to house COVID testing especially in containment zones and also susceptible areas like markets, depots, parking zones etc. and the district administration Kamrup Metro shall ensure that necessary arrangements for testing shall undertaken without fail.
