Kamrup (M) District Magistrate Seeks Report On Death of A Central Jail Convict

GUWAHATI: A convict, Karuna Saikia (AC/2387) , 64 years, of Beltola, Basistha Road was admitted to GMCH on March 29, 2019 and discharged on April 5, 2019. On the same day, he again had to be admitted to GMCH for better medical treatment as referred by the M & HQ-1, Central Jail. However, Saikia expired at GMCH on April 6, 2019 at 8 am while undergoing treatment. As such, the District Magistrate of Kamrup (M) has entrusted Executive Magistrate ACS Sarbana Sonowal to cause an enquiry to figure out the circumstances leading to the death of the said convict Karuna Saikia and to submit her findings within 15 days on receipt of the order along with complete medical treatment record, health screening report, post mortem report, inquest report and visceral examination, to the NHRC/AHRC.
