GUWAHATI: Even after the 124th constitutional Amendment Bill allowed 10% reservation to economically weaker sections in the general category, especially upper castes, people belonging to this section still smell conspiracy against them.

In a press meet held at Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday, General Secretary of Kalita Janagosthi Sanmilan, Assam (KJSA), Dr Ramen Kumar Barkakati said, “It is proved that a conspiracy against our people has been done, because, in order to be not affected by the 10 % reservation as per the Amendment Bill, the numbers of seats were increased. In the medical colleges of Assam the seats were increased up to 900, which mean there should be 90 seats for general candidates. However, there’s only 4.1% reservation with 37 seats for general candidates”.

KJSA claimed that directorate of Medical Education is trying to cheat the general candidates by willingly not understanding the fact. Kalita Janagosthi Sanmilan, Assam is now appealing the respective department not to do any conspiracy against the intelligent students belonging to general caste. The body further asks for those 90 seats and warns the Directorate of Medical Education regarding the 10 percent reservation of EWS.
