Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania to Form BTAD Army and Political Party

GUWAHATI: Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania informed about his decision to form a new political party by October along with a non-political party known as the BTAD party on September this year. The BTAD party according to Naba Kumar Sarania, will not be an armed organization and will be formed with an aim to safeguard the BTAD against unwanted attacks.

“On 2010, we will participate in the BTAD elections and are sure to win 35 of the 40 seats”, said Sarania. A three-day workshop of the Non-Bodo Suraksha Samiti, Assam, was organized on August 17 to 19. The decision to form a new political party along with a non-political BTAD party was taken during that workshop. “The prime aim of the BTAD army is to provide political security to the non-Bodo people residing in the BTAD areas and return their fundamental rights. After the dissolution of Article 370 in J&K, the non-Bodo people residing in the BTAD areas demanded Article 371 and the sixth schedule to be dissolved. However, that is not what I strive for and rather desire that the non-Bodo people residing in the BTAD areas for many years are provided with all their deserved rights”, said Sarania.

Regarding the final NRC list to be published on August 31, Sarania said that he will appoint 500 people to aid non-Bodo people residing in the BTAD areas whose names do not make the list. “We will move the matter to Supreme Court and submit a petition for an opportunity for re-verification and this is where the 500 appointed helpers will provide legal assistance”, he said. The MP while returning from the three-day workshop on Monday was pelted with stones by some miscreants at Patsala. Sarania contemplated that the attack was probably due to his continuous voicing against the crimes towards the non-Bodo people residing in the BTAD areas and he urged upon a proper investigation into the matter.
