Lab technicians demand isolation booths to collect COVID samples

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Medical Laboratory Technicians' Association (AAMCTA) submitted a letter to Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department demanding isolation booths for the lab technicians who are collecting samples of COVID-19 patients.

The association also demanded tweaks in office timing of the lab technicians. In the letter, the AAMCTA stated that their morning shift should be from 8 am to 3 pm and evening shift should be from 3 pm to 10 pm. The night shift should be from 10 pm to 8 am, stated the letter. Further, the association demanded that N95 masks and PPE kits should be made mandatory for the lab technicians who are collecting samples. It also urged the government to arrange the quarantine facilities of the technicians who are engaged in COVID duty.
