Latasil Police busts drug cartel having inter-district connections

GUWAHATI: The Latasil Police has busted a drug-cartel having inter-district nexus with a woman identified as Mofida Bibi arrested in Hajo. The Police also seized 16 gram of suspected drugs and 149 tablets besides Rs 1,40,000 in cash from her possession.

The lid of the inter-disrtrict drug nexus blew off after acting on a tipoff, a police team carried out raids at several places here, Hajo and Baihata Chariali. Altogether six persons have been arrested since Tuesday evening.

That evening, the Police team had arrested two persons identified as Babul Chouwdhury and Noor Ahmed from the TC Point under the Police Station. An amount of 2.4 gram of suspected heroin was seized from their possession.

Based on their confessions, the Police team carried out operations at Baihata Chariali and Hajo the same night. At Baihata Chariali, the police arrested three persons and seized 35.10 gram of suspected heroin from them. The arrested persons are Sarudhar Saikia, Mofidul Ali, and Rahul Ahmed. From Hajo a person identified as Mofida Bibi was arrested and 16 gram of suspected drugs and 149 tablets besides Rs 1,40,000 in cash was seized from her possession.
