GUWAHATI: People stood in long queues on Sunday to buy broiler chicken from vendors allotted by the government. The vendors maintained all the preventive measures advised by the Health Department. The social distancing norms were followed while distributing the meat to buyers.

The Kamrup (Metro) has allowed poultry vendors to sell broiler chicken within wards at a fixed rate. The administration has a fixed rate for live birds at Rs. 150/per kg and dressed at Rs. 220/per kg. The vendors can collect birds from their sources and sell them within the wards.

Proper packaging in case of dressed chicken will have to be maintained and personal hygiene and sanitary conditions must be maintained while selling.
