GUWAHATI: A contractual employee of Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) was arrested for allegedly forging bills.

MMCH had sent some bills related to diesel purchase by the hospital to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to be countersigned. MMCH is an annexe hospital of GMCH. At GMCH, it was found that two bills had the same serial number. On further inspection, it was found that eight of the bills submitted were forged. The GMCH authority lodged an FIR and based on the FIR, a case (567/21) was registered in Bhangagarh Police Station.

Police on Monday arrested Pradip Pathak, a contractual data operator of MMCH, in this connection. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) court on Tuesday and remanded to two days of police custody. Meanwhile, the GMCH authority has dismissed accused Pathak from service.
