Maids steal hefty sum from employer in the city

GUWAHATI: Two housemaids accused of stealing a cash of Rs 5.5 lakh from businessman Ani Agarwal of Narayan Nagar here in the city were arrested from their residence on Wednesday. The maids have been identified as Rita Rai and Jonali Mandal from Goreswar. Agarwal filed a case (55 / 19 U/S 381 IPC) against the maids. Police managed to recover Rs 2.5 lakh cash from each of them; however, the remaining Rs 50 thousand is still untraceable.
