Man Robs His Employers In Deeporbeel Picnic Spot

GUWAHATI: While on a picnic with employees, Pankaj Baishya, a businessman from Saukuchi, Lokhra was robbed in Deeporbeel picnic spot. Upon his return in the evening, he discovered that cash of Rs 1.5 lakh was missing from his hidden spot in the toolbox of his car. Baishya immediately filed a case (902 / 18 u/s 381) under Hatigaon Police Station. The police took his employee Hemanta Malakar into custody where he confessed that he had taken the money and handed it over to his brother Mahanta Malakar. Mahanta was not present in the picnic but came over to take the money. The police raided their residence at Nalbari but could not find the stolen money. Later at night, the mother of the accused called the police informing about finding money in the house. Cash of Rs 1 lakh 6 thousand was recovered from under a bed, however, the rest of the cash is still missing and the accused Mahanta Malakar is on the run.
