GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation Veterinary Branch and Enforcement Branch inspected meat shops located at Hengrabari road, Borbari Bazar and Ganeshguri Bazar on Wednesday.
During the inspection it was found that meat sellers were not selling slaughtered meats from authorized slaughter houses along with other anomalies such as non-maintenance of hygiene, no trade licenses. The teams inspected 2 mutton shops at Hengrabari road and imposed a fine total fine of Rs 1,000. 2 pork shops from the area were fined Rs 2,000 and 2 poultry shops were inspected. In Borbari Bazar area, 2 mutton shops were inspected and a fine of Rs 2,000 was imposed. Around 3.9 kg mutton was seized from the shops. Subsequently, at Ganeshguri Bazar, one poultry van and 4 mutton shops were inspected. The poultry shop was fined Rs 1,000 and 7.6 kg mutton was seized and one shop was sealed.
