GUWAHATI: The Shiksha Adhikar Suraksha Mancha, Asom, met the Director of Higher Education regarding the suspension of Bhawanipur Anchalik Mahavidyalaya's Principal Dr. Mukunda Sarma, and submitted a memorandum.
In the memorandum, it stated that "Dr. Mukunda Sarma has been suspended for participating in a citizen meeting held at Bhawanipur Chowk Bazar in the Barpeta district on July 13 regarding delimitation. The Mancha has expressed resentment and claimed it to be unfortunate. As a citizen and as an individual, everyone has the right to freedom of speech, despite being a government employee. The Constitution gives this right to citizens of India. But in the case of Dr. Mukunda Sarma, this right is violated. He has contributed a lot to the college, both for the teachers and for the students and suspending him is an undemocratic step. We condemn this step and urge to lift the suspension of Dr. Mukunda Sarma."
Sangeeta Das, Debojit Bharali, and Subrata Talukdar were present while submitting the memorandum on behalf of Shiksha Adhikar Suraksha Mancha, Asom.
