Memorial for Tabu Ram Taid Soon: Minister Naba Kumar Doley

GUWAHATI: State Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley has said that his department is going to set up a Rs 19.16-crore project in memory of renowned educationist, linguist and writer Tabu Ram Taid at his birthplace near Ghunasuti village on the bank of the Subansiri river in Lakhimpur district.

Fondly called as 'Subansirir Moni' by all, writer Taid passed away on August 17, 2019.

Addressing a press conference at Jyoti Chitraban here on Monday, Naba Kumar Doley said: "The project in honour of Taid will have a memorial, along with an audio-visual library, a museum, a research centre and a park. We’re also planning to institute a chair in a university in the name of Taid."

Late Taid devoted his life for the research of Assamese and Mising languages.
