 GUWAHATI: A memorial lecture in honour of Mananeeya P. Parameswaran and Adarneeya Dipok Kumar Barthakur on ‘Indian Knowledge Systems and Their Relevance’ was organized by Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) at Sudmerson Hall, Cotton University. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Sampadananda Mishra, Director of the Centre of Human Sciences, Rishihood University, Sonipat, Haryana, India, who is also a renowned scholar of Sanskrit and is a recipient of the President’s Awards ‘Maharishi Badarayana Vyasa Samman’ and ‘Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar’.

Prof. Mishra delved into the historical evolution, deep philosophical foundations, significant scientific advancements, holistic healthcare, spiritual traditions, linguistic heritage, cultural expressions, and contemporary relevance of these systems. Seema Rekha Bhuyan, IAS, Retd. Secretary, ITFC Department, Government of Assam, was the Chief Guest, who said that the talk aimed to engage and inspire the participants with a renewed appreciation of India’s enduring intellectual heritage and its potential to address modern challenges. The event was presided over by Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Vice-Chancellor, Cotton University, who stressed the need for further discussion on the subject and assured his support for it. Dr. Joram Begi, Chairman of VKIC, and Dr. P.C. Bhattacharjee, Director of VKIC, were also present, stated a press release.
