Minister Pratima Bhoumik takes stock of implementation of central schemes in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, addressed a review meeting in Guwahati on Wednesday regarding the ongoing Central Government’s public welfare schemes under the department in the North Eastern states. Minister Pijush Hazarika attended the meeting along with ministers from other states and provided an overview of the ongoing public welfare projects under the department in Assam.

He also urged the Minister of State to simplify the National Scholarship Portal for all students, ensuring more widespread benefits. Alongside the construction of hostels and other facilities for scheduled caste students, Pijush Hazarika requested an increase in the budget for the Adarsh Gram Yojana. They also discussed the importance of publicizing Central Government scholarships for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other Backward Castes, aiming to enable more students to benefit from these opportunities.

During the review meeting, he also updated the Minister of State on the welfare schemes, such as the Model Anganwadi Centre, the construction of B. R. Ambedkar Bhawan, and Mini Stadium, led by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment under the initiative of the state government.

The meeting was attended by several other dignitaries, including the Joint Secretary of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of India, Radhika Chakraborty; Secretary of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Assam, K.J. Hilaly; Private Secretary to the Minister of State, Dr. Milind Ramteke; and senior officials from the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Manipur.
