Miscreants 'extort' Rs 97,000 from trader through Google pay

GUWAHATI: Criminals keep them in sync with technological development, so do investigators. One such incident has come to the fore in which the complainant has said that he was made to pay Rs 97,000 through Google pay by a group after abducting him.

According to the FIR lodged by Himangshu Agarwal in Satgaon Police Station, he was abducted by a group of miscreants from the Patharquary area at Satgaon and was taken to a room at BG Yard, Noonmati where he was demanded to pay Rs 5 lakh. When he said that he had no money and refused to comply with, the miscreants beat him up and one of them fired in the air, the FIR said. The miscreants than demanded Rs 2 lakh, and out of fear he had to pay Rs 97,000 through Google pay, the FIR said.

Investigation is on.
