GUWAHATI: All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS) secretary general Aditya Khakhlari said that to make Mission Basundhara 2.0 a success, it should resolve the land-related issues of tribal people and should include their issues.

Talking to The Sentinel, Khakhlari said, "We are demanding the inclusion of more issues in Mission Basundhara 2.0. Bringing jaldubi maati (wetlands) into another category as they have become suitable for human habitation, converting the gram sabha patta to myadi patta, deciding authorities to issue certificates of bhog dakhal (possession rights) to people posessing such lands for generations spanning around 75 years, survey of NC (Non-Cadastral) villages and bring them under Mission Basundhara 2.0 for providing Myadi Patta and providing land pattas to tribal people for lands under their possession even if they do not have rayati documents are some of our demands to make Mission Basundhara 2.0 a success."

He said, "AATS and All Assam Tribal Youth League took out a bicycle and bike rally in all tribal villages of the state to make them aware of Mission Basundhara 2.0. We knew all such issues at our meetings with tribal people during the rally. All such issues are outside the purview of Mission Basundhara 2.0. We welcome the extension of the date of application of Mission Basundhara up to March 31, 2023. We also welcome the decision to accept the old ST certificates for Mission Basundhara 2.0."

He said that the AATS and other tribal organizations would meet in an emergent meeting on December 29 to discuss all tribal issues relating to Mission Basundhara 2.0.
