Motor Vehicle Act: Rs 1,73,000 Fined In Just Four Days

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has issued an official notification to enforce the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019 which stipulates imposition of hefty fines on various offences committed by drivers. In continuance with the strict compliance of the Act, city police fined Rs 96,000 from different cases on October 5, Rs 36,000 on October 6, Rs 28,500 on October 7, and Rs 12,500 on October 8. A total of Rs 1,73,000 was collected on just four days. Guwahati traffic police reported four accident cases, two in Dispur and one each in Latasil and Panbajar during the Durga festival days, where two are reported dead.
