Much awaited festival of Durga Puja begins today

GUWAHATI: The much-awaited festival of Durga Puja is about to begin from Thursday.

Unfortunately, the celebrations this year are low-key because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the celebrations will not be like yesteryears, the Puja mandals have made arrangements to observe the festival. Most of the Puja mandaps have decided to do Ghat Puja and will follow all the government guidelines.

Moreover, the Kamakhya Temple also reopened its door for devotees on Wednesday. The temple administration will only allow 100 to 150 devotees to enter the temple in a day. All the COVID protocols will be followed by the authorities and only seven to eight persons will be allowed to enter the temple at once. No prasad or bhog will be distributed among the people.
