GUWAHATI: Muktar Uddin Laskar, a resident of Cachar has filed a PIL at the Gauhati High Court opposing the delimitation of constituencies in the State. In the PIL, Laskar argued that there are two cases running in the Supreme Court regarding the cut-off date of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). "It has not yet been decided that whether the cut-off date will be the year 1951 or 1971. Thus it not right the time for the delimitation of constituencies," stated Laskar in the PIL. Meanwhile, the Centre has constituted a Delimitation Commission to delimit the constituencies.
