Murder of Dimple Kumawat: Trail leads to a cigarette link

GUWAHATI: Interrogation of Abhishek Gupta alias Ashik — the 18-year-old murderer of Dimple Kumawat at Uzan Bazar here on September 1 has revealed the link of a cigarette.

Police sources informed that Ashik was taken to the site for recreation of the crime, in the presence of a magistrate. Ashik then revealed that he tried to forbid Dimple from smoking cigarettes. However, she reportedly slapped him for doing so. In a fit of rage, Ashik hit her head with a grinding stone. She started to bleed profusely and fainted. Then, Ashik kept on hitting her with various items including a pressure cooker. He also stabbed various parts of her body several times.

Ashik also unruffled the almirah and the room to create an impression that dacoits committed the murder. Finally, he reported the matter at the Latashil Police Station. The Police arrested him for noticing cuts on his hand and blood clots on his trousers. These details were revealed during the scene-recreation operation at the site of the murder.
