GUWAHATI: The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has submitted a request to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressing concern over the government's decision to conduct SEBA/AHSEC Board examination amid the pandemic.
"It is pertinent to mention that the growing concern over the spread of COVID-19 in the State makes it a highly irrational and unpragmatic decision to conduct the same under the present circumstances. Assam has a COVID positivity rate of 8.04% and death rate of 0.8% (claimed national infection fatality rate is around 0.05%), which is an issue of high concern," stated the NSUI in a release. "It is extremely important that a concrete plan on safeguarding our children should be placed at first by the government. Also, if possible, instead of conducting examinations; the emphasis should be given on past examination performances, internals or previous scores for those students for whom such an arrangement is unfeasible," the release added.
