GUWAHATI: The Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Guwahati Metro Zonal Committee observed the Martyrs' Day at Patharquerry here on Wednesday in memory of Tripura Health Minister late Bimal Sinha.
President of the State committee of the Sahitya Parishad, Dils LK Sinha in his speech, spoke on the positive role played by late Bimal Sinha for the development of Bishnupriya Manipuri society, language, literature and culture.
The Government of Tripura introduced the Bishnupriya Manipuri language as a medium at the primary stage of education due to late Sinha's initiatives. He was a prolific writer and he wrote a dozen of story collections and novels depicting the life of the community.
While Siddhartha Sinha lighted the lamp and Advocate Bhimsen Sinha and Suresh Sinha paid floral tributes to the departed leader.
Shashikanta Sinha, Satish Kumar Sinha and Nanigopal Sinha recited poems on the occasion. Dils Luri, Sukolpa, Anupama, Jayasri Sinha and Baibhav Rajkumar sang the chorus.
