GUWAHATI: State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das has said that their party is not at all worried over formation of new political parties in the State as that will only benefit the party. Talking to the media here on Thursday, Das said, "If the Assembly poll is held in 2021 we'll get 100 seats, and if the poll is held now, we'll get 80 seats. If the AASU (All Assam Students' Union) or any other groups form political parties, we've nothing to worry about. The more new parties are floated the more benefit the BJP will accrue. Such new parties won't erode the vote bank of the BJP. Only the share of votes of the formations that are against the BJP-led alliance will be divided."

As to who will be the chief ministerial candidate for the BJP in the coming Assembly election in the State, Dass said, "It's the prerogative of the party high command."

When asked if he will contest from another LAC other than Sorbhog in the event of the Congress-AIUDF alliance, Dass said, "It's the party high command to decide all such issues."
