The Guwahati Branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) has shifted to new premises at the BSNL Bhawan near the Don Bosco School in Panbazar.

GUWAHATI: In view of recent initiative of the Government via the Brahmaputra River Front Development Project, the Guwahati Branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) has shifted to new premises at the BSNL Bhawan near the Don Bosco School in Panbazar. The new premises were formally inaugurated by Samir Kumar Sinha, the State's Principal Secretary (Finance), in presence of Arvind Kumar Singh, Chief General Manager of SBI Suranjana Dutta, General Manager of SBI on Wednesday.

The iconic Guwahati Branch of SBI was opened on April 3, 1957. In the year 1972, SBI Guwahati Branch moved to a new building on land allotted by Government of Assam at Kachari in Panbazar (near the Brahmaputra). The branch has been providing its service to around 1 lakh customers, 12,000 pensioners and 15,000 salary account holders.

In addition, the branch also handles business transactions of many Government departments and institutions, various educational institutes, the Gauhati High Court, and many SME customers. SBI, Guwahati Branch also caters and provides Forex Business, International Banking, Export & Import transaction facilities to its esteemed customers.

Samir Sinha appreciated SBI for rendering exceptional banking services to all the sections of the society with modern facilities and amenities. He hoped that as before SBI would continue to serve the society with utmost dedication along with modern technology and innovative product line, stated a press release.
