GUWAHATI: Safety in train running has been the top most priority of NF Railway. During the first six months of the current financial year, N. F Railway has not only achieved almost all targets in terms asset renewal and maintenance but also surpassed targets in some of the parameters which are vital for ensuring safety in train operations. This has been possible due to focused attention to works related to safety and giving priority to them.

Maintenance of tracks and replacement of worn-out components of railway tracks are vital for safety of train operations. During the April – October period, NF Railway has carried out 62% of the targeted Complete Track Renewal (CTR) although the proportionate target till October was 57% and thereby surpassed the target. During the same period, Through Rail Renewal (TRR) was carried out for 83% of the targeted 115 km of track, though the proportionate target till October was 67% of the total. Similarly, Through Fitting Renewal (TFR) was carried out for a total of 239km of track till October 2019 against a targeted 396 km for the year. These achievements will help NF Railway not only to reach its targets in time but also help to take care of its track beyond the targeted length, a press release stated.
