GUWAHATI: Personnel of the RPF (Railway Police Force) of NFR (North East Frontier Railways) immensely contributed in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and providing help to the needy persons as frontline warrior. As many as 1.5 lakhs food packets were distributed to the needy villagers and downtrodden people by RPF. Besides, 642 Shramik and 16 pairs of special trains were effectively escorted by RPF personnel.

During the period from January to July 2020, the RPF of NF recovered stolen railway property worth more than Rs. 34.3 lakhs with the arrest of 59 persons.

During this period, 43 cases of transportation of contraband items were detected and 10 persons were arrested along with the recovery of contraband items worth more than Rs 1.02 crores.

Moreover, the RPF rescued 135 destitute/runaway children and also arrested four traffickers. Besides, 15 IPC cases were registered and 24 persons apprehended.

A total of 69 touts were also apprehended and prosecuted by team RPF/NFR during raids conducted across different areas under the jurisdiction of NFR, stated a release.
