Northeast Frontier Railway transhipped 200 rakes of essential commodities amidst lockdown

GUWAHATI: To ensure the supply essential commodities, freight train operations are being continued 24x7 by NF Railway. Northeast Frontier Railway managed to run more than 200 rakes of freight trains loaded with essential commodities for unloading at various locations as per the need of common people and government departments till Wednesday.

According to an NF Railway press release, In the NFR area, 153 freight rakes loaded with essential items were unloaded in various goods sidings till Wednesday since lockdown started. Freight trains loaded with food grains were unloaded at Batnaha, New Jalpaiguri, Maldah Court sidings under Katihar division and Udaipur in Lumding division; salt & food grains was unloaded at Barpeta Road and Changsari under Rangiya division; wheat, food grains, etc were unloaded at Silchar and Sugar at Jirania stations under Lumding division, the potato was unloaded at New Tinsukia; and food grains were unloaded at Jorhat, Tinsukia under Tinsukia division. More freight trains loaded with essential commodities are expected to enter the NFR system on Thursday.

While nearly 2,000 wagons comprising 16 rakes of petroleum products, 9 rakes of coal, 7 rakes of potato, 4 rakes of dolomite,1 rake of stone chips, 1 rake of cement, 1 rake of ballast and 3 rakes loaded with containers of misc items were loaded for transportation up to last month, the release added.
