GUWAHATI: The RPF (Railway Protection Force) of NFR (Northeast Frontier Railways) has detected more than 655 cases of smuggled contraband goods worth Rs.17,93,72,180, and arrested 185 persons from 2017 to 2020 (up to July).

During search operations, personnel of the RPF under NFR also seized Chinese-made items on September 24. The team noticed six suspicious cartons lying near the parcel ramp opposite to the new station building of the railway station. Later, it was found that the packets contained Chinese-made accessories like 820 numbers of mobile batteries and 640 mobile LCD touch display items. The value of these seized Chinese items is Rs 2,15,200.

Later, the seized articles were handed over to the Inspector of Customs at Dinhatain West Bengal. A case (vide No. 06/IMP/UNCL/RPF/CUS/DHDPU/2020-21 dated 24. 09. 2020) was registered.

The team of New Coochbehar RPF under Alipurduar Division was led by Inspector Ravi Kumar, and included Sub Inspector BN Bhowmick and Assistant Sub Inspector SK Roy, stated a release.
