Guwahati:
Assam Pradesh Congress chief Ripun Bora said on Wednesday that everyone could
attend the last rites of the veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi.
Speaking to media, Bora said that wrong information has
been spread among the people that only a thousand people can attend the last
rites of the former Assam Chief Minister.
He said, "there is a little confusion. The information
shared by Assam Finance and Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma was taken in a
wrong way by the public". Bora said that there should not be any controversy
over this and no wrong information should go out.
Bora further said that the arrangement of sitting
capacity at the crematorium was made for as many as a thousand people to attend
the funeral. However, now everyone would be allowed to attend Gogoi's funeral,
but in case anyone is not able to enter the crematorium, a LED screen would be
put up outside the crematorium, so that all Gogoi's supporters, well-wishers
coming from various parts of the state can view the last rites of their beloved
three-time Chief Minister.
The last rites of Tarun Gogoi would be held at the
Navagraha crematorium, Guwahati instead of his hometown Titabor in Jorhat, as
per the wishes of Gogoi's family. The last rites would be performed on
Thursday, November 26.
