Oil India Limited organizes Saksham Cyclothon across Assam

AWARENESS ON FUEL CONSERVATION

GUWAHATI: The Oil India Limited (Pipeline Headquarters) has successfully organized Saksham Cyclothon in four cities across Assam.

Saksham 2021 was organized under the guidance of PCRA (Petroleum Conservation Research Authority), a registered society set up under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. This was part of the awareness drive seeking citizens to actively participate in fuel conservation for health & environmental protection and to help in reducing India's dependency on import of crude oil.

The theme for this year was "Green and Clean Energy". Saksham Cyclothons are being organized at 300 cities across India on January 31, 2021.

In Guwahati, 500 plus cyclists participated in the rally. The response in the other cities was equally overwhelming with Jorhat having 250 plus cyclists, Nagaon had 160 plus and Tezpur had 130 plus cyclists.

In Guwahati, Pankaj Goswami, Director (operations) flagged off the cyclothon in the presence of other high-ranking OIL officials which included Kt Varkey, Executive Director, Pipeline Services, Sandip Goswami, Chief General Manager, Pipeline Services, (Designate), Shyamal Choudhury, Chief General Manager – PLM and Arunjyoti Baruah, - Chief General Manager- Administration.

The programme included taking the Saksham pledge and was followed by a Zumba session. The Cyclothon was organized with the support of an NGO called pedal for a change and local cycling groups like Guwahati Cycling Community, Nagaon Cyclists, Tezpur Cyclers and Jorhat Cycling Community.
