GUWAHATI: Ride-hailing platforms OLA and Uber temporarily suspended their shared rides, from Saturday onwards, in an effort to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

Both the platforms are also in discussions to make online payment mandatory as coronavirus may spread by close contact of any person infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, the DTO (District Transport Office) provided masks and sanitizers to drivers and handymen of buses. The officials also encouraged the public to avoid standing on buses.
