On the eve of Independence Day, 21 Assam cops chosen for medals

GUWAHATI: On the eve of the Independence Day on Friday the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a list of police personnel from Assam who will be awarded President's and police medals.

A total of 21 personnel from Assam will receive the medal in various categories for their outstanding services.

While Arabinda Kalita, Managing Director, Assam Police Housing Corporation will receive the President's Police Medal (PPM) for distinguished service, five other personnel will receive the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG). They PMG medal awardees are - Anupam Gowala, Kushal Das, Titheswar Saikia, Ashini Kumar Saikia and Cham Hum Chakhap.

Among others, 15 personnel who will receive the Police Medal for Meritorious Service are – Devojyoti Mukherjee, DIG (Border), Guwahati; Gautam Borah, Commandant, 10^th APBn, Kahilipara; Shiw Kumar Ray, Assistant Commandant, 8^th APBn, Abhayapuri; Rukma Bura Gohain, DSP (Border), Guwahati; Nuruddin Ahmed, DSP (Border); Anup Kumar Deb, Sub-Inispector (AB) 6^th APBn, Kathal, Kachar; Prabin Duwari, ASI (UB), Sadiya; Abul Faruque, ASI (UB), Karbi Anglong; Kishor Kumar Thapa, ASI (Clerk), 21 ST A.P (IR) Batallion, Katlicherra, Hailakandi; Jadav Chadra Nath, Havildar, CDO BN, Mandakata; Satya Narayan Yadav, Lance Naik (AB)-788, 6^th APBn. Kathal, Kachar; Pramod Mahanta, Lance Naik, (AB) 468 Karbi Anglong; Paban Saikia, Constable (UB) 284, Karbi Anglong; Azad Ahmed, Constable (UB), River Police Organisation, Guwahati and; Prasanta Sonowal, Constable (UB) 03, Sadiya.
