GUWAHATI: The Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and ward councillors of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) laid the foundation stones for community halls, public toilets, and cremation/burial grounds under ward numbers 2, 1, 59, and 42 to commemorate the completion of one year of the civic body on Friday.
Ramendra Narayan Kalita, M.L.A., Gauhati West, graced the foundation stone-laying ceremony with his presence under Ward No. 1. Queen Oja, M.P., Gauhati constituency, graced the inauguration ceremony under wards no. 1, 2, and 42.
The foundation stone-laying programmes for the construction of the community halls were carried out at Durga Mandir, Sundarbori; the public toilet at Padumbori Gotanagar Rangbhumi; and the cremation/burial ground at Sundarbori near Sishu Kalyan were carried out under Ward No. 2.
The foundation stone-laying programmes for the construction of a community hall at Iddgah Maidan, Garigaon; a public toilet at Saraighat Ranga Mancha, Satmile; and a cremation or burial ground at Garigaon Kabarsthan were carried out under Ward No. 1.
The foundation stone-laying programmes for the construction of the community hall at Durga Mandir, Barbari; the public toilet at Sixmile, beneath the flyover towards Panjabari; and the cremation or burial ground at Satgaon Anchalik Rajohuwa Smashan were carried out under Ward No. 59.
The foundation stone-laying programmes for the construction of a community hall at Sijubari Radiant Club, Hatigaon; a public toilet at Sijubari Radiant Club, Hatigaon; and a cremation or burial ground at No. 1 Sijubari Mazar Kabarsthan were carried out under Ward No. 42.
