GUWAHATI: Raijor Dal working president Bhasco De Saikia said that the state government has not been able to deliver COVID-19 vaccination among public of the state like other states of India. Speaking on the data provided by the Union Health Ministry on May 29, Saikia said that among the 36 other states and union territories, Assam ranked 5th from the bottom of the list.
Saikia further added that around 11.31 percent of the total population in the state has been vaccinated with the first and the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. While 2.31 percent of the population has been vaccinated with both the doses and is far behind from other states percentage wise, said the party's working president.
Further the Raijor Dal demanded the state government to ask the central government to provide sufficient COVID-19 vaccines for the people of Assam and people should be vaccinated at home.
"People who are unable to register themselves for vaccine online also should be vaccinated and the entire process should be completed by 3 months," said Bhasco De Saikia. The party demanded free ration for the people who are living below the poverty line and the people who have lost their jobs and farmers should also be provided financial assistance of Rs. 5000.
The people who have lost their jobs should be provided with a one time financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 and also provide relief to the vehicle owners from EMIs.
