Orange Alert issued for Guwahati city on October 2 and 3

GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted rains and thunderstorms in several locations including the capital city of Guwahati on October 2 and 3 and issued an Orange Alert for the same dates.

The statement issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre of the Indian Meteorological Department in Guwahati also mentioned the possibility of light to moderate thunderstorms in the city with up to 1-2 cm/hr of precipitation.

Previously, on Saturday, heavy rains and thunderstorms led to massive urban flooding in several parts of the city as well as major traffic congestion. The storm also caused branches of trees to fall at several places in the city, severing the electricity supply for hours.
