GUWAHATI: More than 30 doctors and around 45 nurses of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Sunday.

According to GMCH Superintendent Abhijit Sarma, however, there is no crisis at the GMCH as other doctors stand in for infected colleagues during the isolation period. Similarly, there are around 800 nurses at the GMCH and patients are still receiving the best of medical and nursing care.

Sarma thanked his team for their dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged school students to take all precautions, especially wearing of masks, because the latest wave of the pandemic is infecting children as well. He appealed to the guardians and school authorities to keep vigil to ensure that youngsters follow all safety precautions.

Noting that vaccinated persons are showing milder symptoms, Sarma exhorted non-vaccinated people to get vaccinated at the earliest.
