GUWAHATI: State Excise, Forest & Environment and Fisheries Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Friday released hyacinth macaws and capuchin monkeys to a new breeding facility at the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati.

The exotic species of hyacinth macaws and capuchin monkeys were rescued from an illegal racket at Lailapur in the Cachar district.

"In a ceremonial event today, released the hyacinth macaws and capuchin monkeys to their new breeding facilities from quarantine at Assam State Zoo, Guwahati. These exotic species were earlier recovered by our forest forces from an illegal racket in Lailapur, Cachar," Parimal Suklabaidya tweeted.
