PENSION SCHEME: Primary teachers to participate in stir

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) will participate in the nationwide stir demanding the immediate withdrawal of the NPS (National Pension Scheme). The protest programme will be held on December 27. The decision in this regard was taken in the executive body meeting here on December 2.

The 'All India Primary Teachers' Federation' has called under the day-long stir. ASPTA secretary-general Ratul Chandra Goswami, "We further demand the regularisation of jobs of all the contractual teachers and release of DA (Dearness Allowance); creation of Head Masters' posts; return of the grade pay of Rs 8,700 earlier deducted from the salaries of graduate teachers; and extension of EL (Earn Leave).
