Pijush Hazarika reviews works of Social Justice and Empowerment department

GUWAHATI: Minister Pijush Hazarika took part in a special review meeting of the Social Justice & Empowerment Department, the government of Assam in Janata Bhawan on Saturday. The minister reviewed the steps taken towards the distribution of scholarships to eligible students of the state.

The minister took stock of the progress of various works of the department in the presence of Principal Secretary Mukesh Chahu and other top officials. The officials also discussed the scholarships offered by the Government of India to SC and OBC category students in the state. He also directed the concerned officials to make the arrangements for students to apply for the same through a nodal teacher in each school via the designated portal.

Enquiring about the other departmental works, the minister ordered that no compromise should be made regarding the meals provided to the students. He also enquired about the conditions of the drug rehabilitation centres and directed the concerned officials to ensure that they function strictly along the guidelines.
