Police seize large quantity of Fake Indian Currency Notes; two arrested

With the ongoing increase in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) smugglers, a team of West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) and Jalukbari Outpost on Tuesday conducted a joint drive against FICN and arrested one accused identified as Mofidul Islam (29) hailing from Lakhimpur.

GUWAHATI:  With the ongoing increase in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) smugglers, a team of West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) and Jalukbari Outpost on Tuesday conducted a joint drive against FICN and arrested one accused identified as Mofidul Islam (29) hailing from Lakhimpur. He was arrested at Jalukbari, near the Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Khetra.

According to sources, after interrogating Mofidul Islam, it came to light that Rofikuddin of Laluk Islampur had been operating the illegal FICN network. He is operating the network at Mirza Rail Gate in a rented house. Accordingly, the rented house was raided, and the team recovered FICN having a face value of Rs 2,16,500 of Rs 500 denominations and one printing machine that mints FICN.
