GUWAHATI: In the latest development in the Kharghuli rave party case, one of the prime accused - Bishal Kusum Choudhury was shot at by police while trying to escape from police custody on Saturday night.

Bishal Choudhury had been arrested by Guwahati Police in Delhi on August 28. He allegedly supplied cocaine for the rave party at a posh apartment in Kharguli last month. He was brought to Guwahati and kept in Latasil Police Station for questioning.

Central Police District DCP Rajveer told the media on Sunday that on Saturday night, Bishal was taken to Noonmati for a search operation. He tried to flee from the police vehicle. Despite several warnings, he did not stop. So the police were left with no other choice but to fire two rounds. He sustained bullet injuries on both his legs and is now undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

On August 13, following a tip-off, Guwahati Police raided the rave party in Kharguli and arrested 18 people. A case (282/21/u/s 188 IPC R/W 2A/21B/25/29 NDPS Act) was registered at the Latasil Police Station.

On Saturday, another person, identified as Rilim Rana Choudhury, was arrested by police in connection with this case. Rilim allegedly would receive the drugs consignment which Bishal used to bring from New Delhi to Guwahati. Bisha had been supplying cocaine in Guwahati since the last two years.
