GUWAHATI: The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam, along with the Kamrup (metro) district administration, organized an event on Tuesday to mark the beginning of 6th National Poshan Month 2023.
The event was organized at the auditorium of the DC’s office of Kamrup (metro) district with Additional District Commissioner Bikram Chetry as the chairman while District Development Commissioner Santosh Kutum delivered the welcome address. The district coordinator of the Poshan Abhiyan Suman Borgohain spoke about the main aims of the Poshan month like spreading awareness about feeding breastmilk and the need for supplementary food, nutritious content of millets, development of nutrition through Mission Life, implementation of Meri Maati Mera Desh and camps to recognize signs of anaemia. He also explained various steps taken in this direction.
Although the Poshan Month event was flagged off today, the awareness campaigns regarding the feeding of breastmilk and the need for proper nourishment have been going on in the State. Officials from various departments attended the event today, including officers from the Women and Child Development department.
