Pre-test final examination mandatory for HS 2nd year students: AHSEC

GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has made it mandatory to conduct a pre-final test examination for the higher secondary second-year students.

AHSEC issued a notice stating, “It is for the information of all concerned that the Council has decided to conduct a pre-final test examination for the students of the higher secondary second year within the month of December 2023 in all the permitted or recognised institutions under its jurisdiction. In this connection, all the heads of the institutions concerned are requested to make arrangements for holding the pre-test final examinations, such as preparation of the pre-test routine, setting up of subject-wise question papers, supplying of blank answer scripts, issuance of admit cards, evaluation of answer scripts, declaration of results, issuance of marksheets, etc.”

The notice further stated, “It will be mandatory on the part of the examination conducted by the institutions to keep the subject-wise marks obtained by the students under their custody, so that the council can collect the same as and when required. The question papers should be set up by the teacher(s) concerned as per the syllabus of the AHSEC. The examination of the subjects with practical parts will be as per the syllabus. Subjects with no practical is of 100 marks. In respect of the subjects Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Political Science Sociology, Swadesh Adhyayan, etc., there will be 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment and project work.” AHSEC officials said that “the pre-test final examination has been made mandatory as many institutions do not conduct the examination even though it should have been conducted.”

However, AHSEC has issued a notification that the higher secondary final examination in 2024 will commence in February and March. The online form-filling process has already started and will conclude on November 30.
