GUWAHATI: The Postgraduate Students’ Union elections for Gauhati University will be conducted on September 28, and the preparations have started in full swing. The campaign for the same began on September 21. The open debate for the same will be conducted between Jintu Das from Commerce (7th semester) and Nihar Ranjan Bhuyan from Biotechnology (3rd semester), who are contesting for the president post on September 26. Arif Hussian and Hritwij Thakur from Communication and Journalism, 3rd semester, are eyeing the vice president post. Deep Darshan Kalita from Commerce (9th semester) and Himanjit Deka from Political Science (3rd semester) are contesting for the post of General Secretary, and Niharika Devi from the Assamese Department (3rd semester), Rainumai Brahma from Sociology (3rd semester), and Ujjal Paul from English Language Teaching (1st semester) are contesting for the Assistant General Secretary post. Naba Kanta Baruah from the Assamese Department (3rd Semester) and Sudema Bargayary from the Bodo Department (3rd Semester) are contesting to become the Literary Secretary, while Lallyajit Sailda from Commerce (3rd Semester) and Spaini Barman from Communication and Journalism (3rd Semester) are contesting for the Cultural Secretary post.
